Oncology

The term oncology literally means a branch of science that deals with tumours and cancers. The word “onco” means bulk, mass, or tumor while “-logy” means study.

Our oncology center is concerned with comprehensive care comprising of preventive measures, early diagnosis, apt therapy (e.g. surgery, chemotherapy and other modalities), and regular follow-up of cancer patients after successful treatment and palliative care of patients with terminal malignancies.

Our oncologists often consider the multi disciplinary care of cancer patients, which may involve physiotherapy, counseling, clinical genetics, to name but a few. As cancer therapy becomes more coordinated, early identification of recurrence will often lead to better survival and quality of life.

The department of oncology offers

Chemotherapy for blood and lymph nodes (Leukemia and Lymphoma)

Surgical excision of tumor - radio-immunoguided surgery (RIGS), ultrasound and LASER surgery, and chemotherapy via an implanted hepatic artery infusion pump.

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy for metastasis/ malignancies, such as Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Adjuvant therapy following surgical interventions with risk of recurrence.
